tl_files/sites/professionalstudies/resources/Pictures/HHemming.jpgThe Faculty of Professional Studies, grounded in Acadia's liberal education tradition, provides professional preparation through degree programmes in Business, Kinesiology, Recreation Management and Community Development, and Education. The Faculty of Professional Studies is focused on providing personalized education in order to meet students' specific educational interests and needs. As a Faculty, we are mindful of a changing society and are committed to exploring important social issues facing us including the environment and globalization. As well, each School is proactive in providing experiential learning opportunities and connecting the university experience to the broader community. We are committed to educational excellence and to providing students the opportunity to study in professional programmes of the highest quality through innovative teaching and scholarship.

Each School has active student associations that participate in numerous professionally related School and student functions throughout the year. The Schools take great pride in providing guidance and assistance to students to ensure students achieve their educational, personal, and career goals.

My history with Acadia spans over thirty years. First, I arrived on the campus from a small rural Annapolis Valley community named Paradise and for the last twenty years I have been a faculty member, Director of the School of Education and now the Dean of the Faculty of Professional Studies. I am committed to the ideals of a liberal education, the internationalization of the Acadia campus and ensuring that students who graduate from the respective Schools in the Faculty are recognized as being among the best educated undergraduate students in their professional field.
